This is good, because although you get to play as either Ripley, Parker, or Dallas in Crew Expendable it makes no difference whatsoever to the gameplay, just a few different lines of dialogue. More importantly all four actors put in a genuine effort, avoiding the spectre of so many phoned-in celebrity voiceovers of the past. However, the other four actors do all return and although age has taken a toll on the voices of the two men, Sigourney Weaver and Veronica Cartwright sound almost exactly the same as they did 30 years ago. Ian Holm wasn’t available to reprise his role as Ash the science officer but his soundalike is very good. That’s suspiciously small, but rather than the content already being on the disc in its entirety we assume it’s simply because the main game already includes a ship that is very similar to the Nostromo and very little additional data was needed beyond the voiceovers and character likenesses.Ĭrew Expendable takes place shortly after the alien’s birth and so the entire crew are still alive except Kane and Brett.

You have to download both extras to access them from the main game (something went wrong with Crew Expendable and it didn’t become available on PSN till just before 6pm on Tuesday) but neither of them are more than 301MB in size. We can tell you right now that there is no way on Earth it’s worth that much (GAME don’t sell the standard edition, but it’s only £32 on Amazon), but we’ll continue this review on the assumption that you buy it later for a more reasonable price.
